Our Staff

Dr. Heather Skogerson was
born in California, and spent her childhood moving around the United States,
Mexico, and the Azores. Her family moved to Carson City in 1989.
She attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo for several years, subsequently
transferring to UNR where she earned her bachelor's degree. Heather graduated from
the Colorado State University, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biological
Sciences in May, 2002, earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
Following graduation, she interned at the Comstock Large Animal Hospital in
Pleasant Valley.
She joined Dr. Margolin at Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital in 2003. Heather and her
son, Brody, enjoy spending time with their dog, Annie Oakley, cats, Penelope, Fiona, and her horse, Doc. Away
from work, Dr. Skogerson enjoys spending time with Brody, riding horses,
hiking, riding motorcycles, and just about anything outdoors.

Dr. Pamela Jahn was born and grew up in rural Wisconsin. She
completed her undergraduate degree and graduate work at the University of
Wisconsin in Madison. She attended the Veterinary College at the University
of Minnesota in Saint Paul where she graduated in 1985. Her first job
in the profession was in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and she later ended up
in Reno, Nevada in 1986. After performing relief work at several
practices and at an emergency clinic, she settled at a local hospital in
Carson City in 1987. She joined Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital in
May 2008. Her pets include McGregor, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, and the
cat family of Pockets, Tinker, Zephyer, Tuffy, Rowdy, and Kinks. In
her spare time she volunteers with the Storey County Fire Department, and
enjoys reading, walking, miniatures, and movies.

Dr. Matt McSweeney grew
up in Gardnerville Nevada, and graduated from Douglas High School. After
graduation he enlisted in the Air Force and worked as a mechanic for the
335th fighter wing stationed out of Greensboro, NC. After his four year
enlistment he moved back to Nevada to attend college at the University of
Nevada, Reno, receiving his BS in animal science with high distinction.
Matt then attended veterinary school at Colorado State University. Matt is
now returning back to Western Nevada to raise his son next to the beautiful
Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Great Basin Desert. Matt enjoys skiing,
fishing camping, softball, traveling, barbecues, movies, and spending time
with friends and family.

Margie
Quirk joined the Lone Mountain staff in 1995 as a veterinary assistant,
coming from another Carson City practice where she had worked for the
previous seven years. In February, 2001 she became a licensed
Veterinary Technician. Margie and her husband, Greg, share their home
with 5 rescued dogs, 4 cats, 3 horses, and numerous chickens.

Lisa Castillo has been a
Receptionist at Lone Mountain since March of 2000. She was born in
Carson City, and graduated from Carson High School in 1998. She
attended WNCC for two years. Lisa and her husband, Rudy, have two
beautiful little girls. They share their home with a cat, Jagger, two
dogs, Scooby and Charlie, and 15 tropical fish. |

Julie Garcia spent her
early childhood in West Covina, California, and relocated to Carson City
when she was 13. As a senior in high school she started working at
Lone Mountain as kennel staff. In her six years at Lone Mountain she
has worked her way up to Veterinary Technician Assistant. She current
attends courses to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. She lives
in Stagecoach with her husband and two-year-old son Logan. She has two
dogs: Rocky and Mystic.

Susan Escamillo has lived
and worked in the Sierra Nevada area for the past 17 years. During
this time, she has worked as a veterinary hospital office manager and as a
boarding kennel manager. She joined Lone Mountain as Hospital
Administrator in March, 2007 and
is enjoying working with the staff. Susan and her husband have three
children and three grandchildren. She is a horse enthusiast, owing a
bay Arabian and a dun breeding stock Paint. She also has a palomino
Appaloosa pony for her grandchildren. Susan and her husband share
their home with two Corgis, Megan and Rugby, a German Shorthaired Pointer,
Eddie, and a big tuxedo cat named Opie who rules the dogs and the house.

Aubrie Li is attending UNR
working toward her bachelor's degree in Animal Science. She currently
serves as part-time Assistant Veterinary Technician, and looks forward to
becoming a Licensed Veterinary Technician when she graduates from UNR.
Aubrie resides in Carson City with her fiancé, Shane, their American
Staffordshire Terrier, Godiva, and their Siamese cat, Mia. She spends
her free time hiking and running with Godiva. Aubrie has competed both
a full and a half marathon to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma
Society, and looks forward to raising more funds for charitable causes in
the future. |
| Delayne "Dee
Dee" Marie Kealaonapua (the fragrance of the flowers) Moniz is originally
from the island of Oahu, Hawaii and spent her first 40 years there -
recently relocating to Northern Nevada. She is the mother of a
beautiful two-year-old, Jonah Ezekiel Kaukalaikekoolau (the sun has risen
and it's on the Koolaus), and a 22-year-old daughter Joedee. In
traditional words, Mahalo Nurloa, she appreciates the opportunity to share
her life with the staff and animals at Lone Mountain. Dee Dee is
enjoying everything Carson City has to offer, including seasons. |

Jessica Zich is a lifelong resident of Carson City and a
graduate of Carson High School. She currents attends UNR and is
majoring in animal science (pre-veterinary coursework). She started
working at Lone Mountain last fall to get hands-on experience in her career
field. She looks forward to graduating from UNR, and would like to
attend veterinary school at Colorado State University. |
| Jessica Lynn
Newton has been a Veterinary Assistant with Lone Mountain for four years.
She grew up in Santa Rosa, California and moved to Carson City in 1997.
She has had a lifelong love for animals and enjoys working in the veterinary
field, where she hopes to further her knowledge as an animal health
caretaker. Jessica shares her home with her cat, Flea. |

Amy Perez is a junior
at Carson High School. She is working toward graduating with honors
and attending UNR
to become a veterinarian. She has always loved animals and enjoys the
experience she is gaining toward her future career. |
